PRE-SCHOOL DANCE

Tiny Toes

Tiny Toes 1

  • This is a 40 minute class dedicated to young children ages 3-4.  Tiny Toes 1 explores a variety of beginning dance steps and is taught in a fun, nurturing, and creative manner.  The class introduces basic dance exercises to develop flexibility, strength, and coordination.

Tiny Toes 2 Combo

  • This is simply a continuation of Tiny Toes 1 with the addition of tap dance.  The class is for children ages 5-6, or for those who have already taken Tiny Toes 1.  This is a 45 minute class and will introduce beginning tap as well as additional pre-ballet technique and vocabulary. Dancers will perform a Tap routine in the recital and will need only one costume.

Tap & Ballet Combo Classes | Age 4

Our Tap & Ballet combo classes are designed for toddlers who love to move! Fine and gross motor skills are developed through the use of music, dance, and finger play. This class is fun for both the student and the teacher!

Hippity Hop | Age 4
Hippity Hop is hip-hop for the younger set. This class focuses on rhythm, body awareness, simple choreography and high-energy fun ! Students will develop coordination, strength, dance technique, rhythm, and body awareness in a caring, exciting, nurturing environment. This class is an excellent way for children to be introduced to the many benefits of the dance.

  • The focus of jazz dance is style! Jazz incorporates body isolations, rhythm, technique and is performed for the pure pleasure of movement.  Jazz classes begin with ages 7 years and up, and each class is 50 minutes in duration.  Students will gain a better understanding of posture, body alignment, vocabulary, and technique while developing strength and flexibility. 

  • Pre-Jazz - Ages 7-8 (50 min)

  • Jazz 1A - Ages 8-up (50 min) 

  • Jazz 1B -Jazz 4B - With Instructor's Approval (50 min)

 

Monthly Tuition: $44/month

Dress Code:  Tan Slip on Jazz shoe.  Wear any color leotard, tan tights (pink if coming from ballet), & dance shorts ok.  Wear hair up in at least a pony-tail with long bangs secured back.

Pom Pom Dance

  • Pom Pom is a fun, upbeat class for ages 6-8.  This is a great class for children who interested in Cheerleading or being on a Dance Team someday.  Students will learn fun dances with the use of Pom Poms.  We will introduce beginning cheer arm motions, beginning cheer jumps, and basic dance movements.  The style utilizes sharp and strong arm motions and fun, energetic dancing.

  • Pom Pom Dance - Ages 6-8 (50 min)

 

Monthly Tuition: $44/month

Dress Code:  Tan Slip on Jazz shoe.  Wear any color leotard, tan tights (pink if coming from ballet), & dance shorts ok.  Wear hair up in at least a pony-tail with long bangs secured back.

Pre-Ballet 

  • Pre-ballet is offered to students ages 6-up, or students who have completed Tiny Toes 2.  Students will be able to complete the ballet positions and gain a basic vocabulary needed for ballet classes.  Students will also expand their knowledge of proper ballet posture and technique.  (40 min. class)

  • Pre-Ballet - Ages 6-7 or moving up from TT2.

Monthly Tuition - $42/month

Dress Code:  Pink Leotard (no skirt please), pink tights, pink ballet shoes.  Hair up in a bun with long bangs secured back.

Ballet 

  • Ballet is the basic of all dance forms! We highly recommend that new students begin training in ballet or take ballet concurrently with another dance class.  Ballet requires discipline and concentration, and develops grace and placement.  Ballet will provide dancers with a strong technique that is essential to other dance forms.  Beginning ballet classes generally begin with ages 7-up and each class resumes for 50 minutes, once a week.  More advanced ballet levels meet up to three times a week and incorporate pointe work.

  • Ballet 1A- Ages 7-up (50 min/ 1 per week)

  • Ballet 1B -Instructor's Approval (50 min/ 1 per week)

  • Ballet 2A - Instructor's Approval (1.05 min/ 1 per week)

  • Ballet 2B - Instructor's Approval (1.20 min/ 1 per week)

  • Ballet 3A - Instructor's Approval (1.20 min/ 2 per week)

  • Ballet 3B-5 - Instructor's Approval (1.20 min/ 3 per week)

 

Monthly Tuition:  50 min -$44/month

                               1 hr - $46/month

                               1.20 min - $50/month -per class

 

Dress Code:  Wear hair in clean high bun with long bangs secured back.  Ballet 1A-2A wear pink Capezio Daisy ballet leather slipper.  Ballet 2b-up wear Capezio Canvas Juliet  Ballet slipper in pink.  Ballet 3B -up require pointe shoes. All ballet classes wear black leotard (no skirt) & pink tights.

Mommy & Me - offered in 4-6 week sessions

  • Mommy & Me is for toddlers ages 2-3.  It is similar to Tiny Toes 1 but with the helping hand of a parent or familiar adult. Fine and gross motor skills are developed through the use of music and dance.  Dads welcome too!

Session Cost -$40 for entire 4 weeks. (No registration fee)

Dress Code:  Wear clothing you can easily move in with hair up. May go bare foot, socks, or wear ballet shoes.

Tap

  • Tap is a fun, enjoyable dance form in which the primary focus is to produce sound through movement.  In Tap, dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps.  Tap is a great class because it teaches rhythm and incorporates a broad vocabulary of steps and combinations.  Dancers are first introduced to tap in our Tiny Toes 2 Combo class.  

  • Tiny Toes 2 Combo (Tap/Pre-ballet) Ages 5-up (45 min)

  • Pre-Ballet/Kinder-Tap Combo -Ages 6-up (55 min)

  • Tap 1A- Ages 7-up (40 min)

  • Ballet 1A/Tap 1A Combo - Ages 7-up (1.5 min)

  • Tap 1B-Tap 4 - With Instructor's Approval (40 min class)

 

Monthly Tuition:  $42-46/month

Dress Code:  Black Patent Taps for TT2 combo & K-tap.   Tap 1A-Tap 2B wears Capezio Fluid Tap shoe.  Tap 3-Tap 4 recommended in hard sole blk tap shoe (Exp: Bloch Respect shoe).  Wear any color leotard, tan tights (pink ok if coming from ballet), and dance shorts/skirt ok (not TT2 Combo).  Wear hair up in at least a pony-tail with long bangs secured back.

  • Musical Theatre has been recognized as a newer style of jazz dance most notably seen in musicals.  Students will learn Broadway-style choreography as well as song and dance numbers from a variety of musical productions past and present (55 min. class). 

  • Musical Theatre 1 - For students ages 9-up,  (50 min)

  • Musical Theatre 2- For students in Jazz 2b Level - up or with instructor's approval.  (50 min)

  • Musical Theatre 3- For students in Jazz 4A Level - up, or with instructor's approval.

 

Monthly Tuition:  $44/class

Dress Code:  Any colored leotard, tan tights (pink ok if coming from ballet), dance shorts ok, and wear tan jazz shoes.  Hair up in at least a pony-tail with long bangs pulled back.-up

  • Acrobatics combines floor tumbling with dance elements. Acrobatics focuses on tumbling, balancing, and developing flexibility. Tumbling mats are used for the class.

  • Tumble Tots 1 is for Ages 3-4 (40 min class). 

  • Tumble Tots 2 is for ages 5-6 (40 min). 

  • Pre-Acro begins at age 7 (40 min). 

  • Acro 1A- ages 8-up (50 min class).  

  • Acro 1B-Acro 3 -With instructor's approval (50 min class)

Class Tuition:  40 min class - $42/month

                                              Acro 2-3 - $48/month

Dress Code:  Any color leotard or bike-tard.  Tan footless tights (pink ok if coming from ballet), & fitted dance shorts ok too.  Wear acro shoes for class.  Acro 3 wear tan jazz shoe.

Hip-Hop

  • Hip-Hop is a dance style primarily danced to hip-hop music that evolved from hip-hop culture.  It is a fun form of dance that has grown in popularity with teens and pre-teens, and is always changing.  This class teaches rhythm, coordination, musicality, and age-appropriate choreography without suggestive music/movements.

  • Hippity Hop is for ages 6-8 yrs. (40 min) 

  • Jr Hip Hop is for ages 8-10 yrs (50 min).

  • Pre-Teen Hip Hop level for ages 11-up (50 min)

  • Teen Hip Hop - Moving up from Pre-Teen Hip Hop

 

Monthly Tution Cost - 40 min class - $42/month

                                         50 min class - $44/month

 

Dress Code:  Hip Hop Dance Shoes required.....Hippity Hop-Jr HH wears Black Hip Hop Dance Sneaker.  Pre-Teen & Teen Hip Hop wears Black Pastry Hip Hop shoe or supply own solid black high top sneaker.  Students in Hip hop should dress in clothing you can easily dance in and appropriate for hip hop style.  We recommend not wearing shorts for floor work.

Lyrical & Contemporary

  • Lyrical is a beautiful, expressive form of dance. In Lyrical, you are dancing out the lyrics of a song, or portraying a certain emotion or quality of movement.  Lyrical can be a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern.  Students need to be enrolled in Ballet 1B level-up concurrently to be in Lyrical.

  • Contemporary is a new class offered at In Motion and is for students enrolled in Ballet 3A or up, Jazz 3 - up, or Lyrical 2-up.  Contemporary incorporates other genres such as Jazz, Modern, Lyrical and Ballet.

  • Pre-Lyrical for ages 9-11 & Ballet 1b-level & up (50 min)

  • Lyrical 1 for Ballet 2B levels and up (50 min)

  • Lyrical 2-4- with instructor's approval (50 min)

  • Contemporary for Levels Ballet 3A-up, Jazz 3-up, or Lyrical 2-up (50 min)

 

Monthly Tuition - $44/month

 

Dress Code:  Any colored leotard, tan or pink convertible tights or footless tights, dance shorts ok.  Wear hair up in at least a pony with long bangs secured away from face.   All Lyrical classes wear a leather half-sole lyrical shoe.

  • Adult classes are sometimes offered throughout our season for ages 18 years and older. If you are interested in joining one of our adult groups, please feel free to reach us to learn about what adult classes might be available. 

 

Session cost: Sessions for adult classes usually are 4-6 weeks in length.  Cost on average is $11/per class.

 

Dress Code:  Dress in clothing you can comfortably move in. May wear socks or go bare foot.
